RWWA Stewards have today finalised their deliberations in relation to penalty following Jockey Alan Kennedy being found guilty to an offence under AR.81A(1)(b) on Tuesday, 26 April 2016 for failing to deliver a urine sample as directed at the Lark Hill Training Complex on Thursday, 14 April 2016.
Mr Kennedy had his Jockey’s licence suspended in full for a period of six (6) months with the commencement of the penalty being backdated to Thursday, 14 April 2016 being the date he was stood down under the provisions of AR.81A(3).
In determining penalty, Stewards took into account the following factors:
- The seriousness of the offence
- Mr Kennedy’s prior record of two offences under AR.81A(1)(a) involving the detection of banned substances
- The need for the penalty to achieve specific and general deterrence
- His personal circumstances
