Thoroughbred Stewards’ Inquiry – Trainer Ashley Maley – Swim Through
Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) stewards have been advised by the ChemCentre in Perth, that salicylic acid at a concentration in excess of the prescribed threshold of 750 milligrams per litre in urine, has been detected in a sample taken from Swim Through after it competed in and won Race 1 at Ascot on 12 October 2022.
Salicylic acid is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) medicine prescribed as an animal remedy.
This finding has been verified by the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory in New South Wales.
Accordingly, the stewards will inquire into these reports on Monday, 24 April 2023 which Mr Maley has been directed to attend.
