Thoroughbred stewards’ inquiry – trainer Ken Nightingale (Fair Grace)
Racing and Wagering Western Australia stewards have been advised by the ChemCentre in Perth, that the sample taken from Fair Grace following it racing in, and winning, Race 3 at Laverton on 29 October 2023 was found to contain the prohibited substance lignocaine.
Lignocaine is a local anaesthetic agent having pain de-sensitising properties and being of a therapeutic nature.
These findings have been verified by the Racing Analytical Services Laboratory (Vic).
Accordingly, stewards will inquire into these reports on Thursday 18 January 2024 which Mr Nightingale has been directed to attend in company with licensed trainer John Reynolds, who he had notified via a Trainer’s Authority was in charge of the horse for that race meeting.
