Thoroughbreds Stewards Inquiry – Trainer Mr. Owen Cocking (MIDNIGHT BANQUET)
RWWA Stewards have been advised by the ChemCentre Perth that arsenic, in excess of the threshold of 0.3ug/mL permitted within the Rules of Racing, has been detected in the post-race urine sample taken from MIDNIGHT BANQUET (trained by Mr Owen Cocking) after it competed in and won Race 5 at Pinjarra on 23 August, 2018.
These findings have been verified by Racing Analytical Services Ltd (Vic) (RASL).
Additional analysis of these samples is being conducted by RASL to assist in assessing the possible sources of the arsenic. Once the results of this analysis is known, Stewards will determine the appropriate course of action.
As advised in the RWWA Media Release of 29 August, 2018 Stewards are also awaiting the outcome of the considerations by the National Bodies with respect to the existing arsenic threshold as prescribed within the Rules of Racing and the related provisions within these rules before proceeding further with any current outstanding inquiries relating to arsenic.
