Nambeelup trainer Corey White heads into Friday night’s Group 3 Greyhounds WA Mandurah Cup Final with high hopes for his kennel star Max Profit after drawing box eight.
Max Profit has been a mighty campaigner for White recording 33 wins and 22 placings from his 66 starts including multiple feature race wins over varied distances.
Last week the son of Fabregas came from box five when leading throughout to win his heat in 27.58.
“There was plenty of early speed around him in his heat and he did a great job to burst clear of it in the early stages.” White said.
Max Profit will come from the widest draw in the final, a box he has exited from 8 times for 5 wins and 2 placings.
“I like him from box 8. He holds his line out of the boxes and that should allow him the opportunity to zoom around them into a forward position.” White said.
“On sectionals from last week Desert Rampage has the capacity to be going with him so that will be an interesting part of the race.”
When pressed for who he thought would be toughest to beat White suggested Desert Rampage and Bundles Galore were both big threats.
“Desert Rampage has a tremendous record at Mandurah while from the draw Bundles Galore could be the Dog camped just off the speed coming home with a strong burst.” White commented.
The TABtouch Fixed odds market on the race has Max Profit as the firm $2.80 favourite in front of Bundles Galore at $4.40, All The Rave at $4.40, Liesel Monelli at $5.50 and Desert Rampage at $6.50.
Max Profit remains the kennel favourite and White eluded to how special the dog has been for him.
“Max has been such a durable and consistent dog and he is a pleasure to train.” White said.
“While he has earned more than $167,000 in prizemoney for us it is about more than dollars and cents.”
“The ride he has taken us on has been special and we are so proud of his achievements.” White concluded.
The Group 3 Greyhounds WA Mandurah Cup final is race number 5 on the program on Friday night and is due to get underway at 8.24pm WST.
• National Sprint Champion West On Augie has drawn perfectly in his Semi Final of the Million Dollar Chase at Wentworth Park on Friday night.
The star sandgroper currently in the care of trainer Robert Britton made an encouraging debut at Wentworth Park a fortnight ago finishing runner-up to My Redeemer in 29.80 and is likely to benefit for the look at the track on race night.
Last week on the Sports Daily on TAB Radio WA Trainer Chris Halse eluded to the fact that he had plenty of scope for improvement.
“He improved many lengths from his trial time to his first run on racenight and should be even better off having his second look on racenight.” Halse said.
West On Augie again runs into My Redeemer but this time around Augie has the distinct advantage of box one.
On the Fixed odds market with TABtouch West On Augie is the $2.35 favourite in front of My Redeemer who is rated a $2.45 chance.
