Trainer Kylie McLennan is hoping that Illusive Dreama can reproduce the effort she delivered during last weekend’s heats when the handy black bitch lines up in the final of the Dawesville Cup (490m) at Tabtouch Park Mandurah this Friday.
Illusive Dreama took full advantage of the red alley to bounce straight to the front before rolling on to score by nearly two lengths ahead of runner-up Texan Star in a personal best time of 27.67.
McLennan admits that Illusive Dreama faces a tough ask to repeat the dose in the final from box four against an even field but believes her greyhound could still come out on top.
“We’d prefer to be closer to the rail but hopefully she can jump and find the lead,” the Nambeelup based trainer said.
“If she gets to the front she’ll be a big chance but like in every final you need a bit of luck to go your way.”
McLennan bred Illusive Dreama herself out a pairing between Ricky’s A Robber-Roxy Mac, two dogs that also raced for the kennel.
“It’s just exciting to be in a final with her because we’ve had her since day one and both her parents were good dogs for us,” McLennan said.
Both the other Dawesville Cup heat winners are drawn inside Illusive Dreama.
Sable Island will launch from the pole while Guessed Out is next door in trap two.
