After running a slashing second behind Orson Allen in last week’s Group 1 SKY RACING Perth Cup Hecton Bale is expected to take a power of beating in his heat of the Lew Dorsa Memorial at Cannington on Saturday night.
The Australian Cup winner who has won 19 of his 59 career starts and more than $463,000 in prizemoney has drawn perfectly in box one, the same draw he had when runner up last week.
His 8 starts from box one have yielded 4 wins and 3 placings and if he can reproduce his early split in the low 5.50’s the son of Fernando Bale should land into a lovely spot heading into the first corner.
Graham Crudeli was delighted with his performance in last week’s Cup Final and is looking forward to seeing his kennel star step out of the red again on Saturday.
“We were so proud of his effort in the Cup final last week.”Crudeli said.
“Orson Allen is widely regarded as the hottest dog in Australia right now and to get as close as we did to such a fast dog was a terrific performance.”
“He has come up with his favourite box again and if he reproduces his effort from last week he will be very hard to stop.”
“He has been jumping out of his skin this week so there is certainly no reason why he won’t be at his top come race time on Saturday.” Crudeli added.
Hecton Bale will stay home over the next little patch focusing on the Lew Dorsa and Paradise Street Trophy series before aiming up at the Nationals in a few month’s time.
“There are some nice series coming up locally over the next couple of months which we will have a crack at before looking forward to the nationals.” Crudeli said.
After finishing unplaced in the Group 1 Galaxy Final last week versatile chaser Bee Dee drops back to the 520 metre trip where he competes in a Provincial Grade 5 race from box seven.
“Bee Dee ran a cheeky race in the Galaxy but just ran out of puff the last little bit” Crudeli said.
“He will appreciate the big drop in class and if he can just get over into a handy spot early I expect him to be really charging home.” Crudeli suggested.
When asked about his other runners on the program Crudeli offered three runners for the punters to keep in mind.
“Verne Allen is drawn next to Hecton Bale and he has a lovely draw to get across to the rails and stick on. I expect him to place.” Crudeli said.
“Snazzy Whompo gained plenty of confidence out of his win last week and he is a definite each way chance in the second of the Lew Dorsa Heats.” Crudeli added.
“Immen Bale returned to the winner’s list last week and with two slow beginners drawn inside of him he has a chance to get over to the fence again. That is where he does his best work.” Crudeli concluded.
