Stewards Inquiry – Mr Anthony Glenny

Stewards yesterday concluded an inquiry into allegations that Disqualified Person Mr Anthony Glenny had attended the construction site of the new Cannington Greyhound Track whilst a disqualified person.
Evidence was heard from Mr Anthony Glenny, the West Australian Greyhound Racing Association (WAGRA) Track and Grounds Manager, a WAGRA Groundsman present at the relevant time and Senior Greyhound Steward Mr G O’Dea.
It was acknowledged by Mr Glenny that on 20 October 2015 whilst a disqualified person, he entered and remained in a place which is under the control of a Club, contrary to LR 99C (1) (d).
Further it was acknowledged by Mr Glenny on the 20 October 2015, when present at the new track, he participated in a conversation with a WAGRA Groundsman in relation to matters associated with greyhound racing concerning infrastructure at the venue.
The provisions of GAR 100 and LR 100 state that;
GAR100 Penalty to be recommenced
The period of penalty imposed on a person who is disqualified or warned off shall automatically be deemed to have recommenced as from the most recent date of the person breaching Rule 99.
LR100 Penalty to be recommenced
The provisions of GAR100 shall apply mutatis mutandis to breaches of LR99C or;
Once a breach of the restrictions of disqualification has been established the recommencement of any disqualification is automatic. As outlined above, the Stewards have confirmed one breach under GAR 99 (3) (f) and one breach under LR 99C (1) (d) both on the 20 October 2015.
Acting in accordance with GAR and LR 100, Stewards determined to recommence Mr Glenny’s disqualification as from the most recent date of breaching the said rules, that being 20 October 2015. Therefore, the original 18 month disqualification imposed on the 29 May 2015, will now recommence as from 20 October 2015 and will now expire on 19 April 2017.
