STAR BOOK BACKED IN MANDURAH OAKS FINAL
The Jamie Marsh trained Star Book is one of the key fancies in Friday night’s Listed Greyhounds WA Mandurah Oaks final and she has been backed from $5 in to $3.90 on the fixed odds market with TABtouch.
Star Book has put together an excellent record in her career to date starting 15 times for 8 wins and 5 placings and she finished third in her heat last week behind Pixie Monelli in a time of 27.56 seconds.
The daughter of Barcia Bale and Saving Bundles has drawn box five for the final with a lot of the early pace drawn inside her with Mermaid Monelii, Pixie Monelli, Veyron Star and Thrift Monelli.
“The pace being draw inside her may work out ok as she wants off a bit and if the speed drawn inside jams she may be left out a little wider with some room to gallop.” Trainer Marsh said.
“Try Catch Tanya in box seven can show a bit of pace so I just have to hope that we miss her in the early stages and just mind our own business without getting too much interference.” Marsh added.
Last week’s heat winners Pixie Monelli (27.31 seconds) and Thrift Monelli (27.37 seconds) were both impressive while the greyhound drawn in box one Mermaid Monelli has won 15 of her 24 starts.
“It is a red-hot line up and we are going to need everything to go right to win it. Mermaid Monelli, Pixie Monelli and Thrift Monelli all ran in the 27.30’s and have top end speed so they will take some running down.” Marsh added.
“It is hard to be too confident in a race with so much quality but with a clean crack at it my bitch can be right in the thick of things.” Marsh concluded.
The Fixed odds market with TABtouch for the Listed Greyhounds WA Mandurah Oaks sees Mermaid Monelli at $2.75, Pixie Monelli at $3.20, Star Book at $3.90, Thrift Monelli at $5.50, Veyron Star at $13, West On Bloom at $20, Try Catch Tanya at $23 and Oysters at $61.
Marsh will also have his emerging stayer Casus Belli compete over the 647 metres in race 7, the A1 Salvage and Hardware or the provincial grade 4 and 5 performers.
The son of Bella Infrared and Benta Bale set the track alight at Cannington over the 600 metres at his most recent outing stopping the clock in 34.53 seconds, a time reserved for only the elite stayers in this state.
“He went really well last time out at Cannington and it looks like he is starting to work it all out.” Marsh said.
“He is a quirky character and he can find a little trouble in a field but when he gets wound up he can really run.” Marsh added.
