WA Sprint Heats run deep!
Two heats of the WA Sprint Championship over 520 metres highlight a stellar 12 race card at Cannington this evening.
Traditionally the winner of this series heads on to the National Championships to represent WA however due to COVID 19 this year’s Nationals have had to be abandoned.
Nonetheless we are left with two tremendous heats and the opportunity to be crowned a WA Sprint champion is something very much at the top of most Trainers To-Do Lists.
In heat one you can make a case for the entire field with all eight runners heading in with a win or multiple placings in their recent form.
The TABtouch Fixed odds market has Rapido Lass at $3.10, West On Brae at $3.60, Got The Sugar at $4.20, Projectory at $5.50, Sir Monty at $7, All Zipped Up at $16, Super Zoom Jake at $34 and Stargazer at $41.
The current favourite Rapido Lass has been in dazzling form over the longer trips winning 3 of her last 5 and despite her liking to use a bit of the track she has won both starts from the box one draw for Trainer Paul Stuart.
West On Brae has won three of his last four starts in slick times, Got The Sugar was excellent in winning a Free To All last week and Projectory won the Perth Cup Consolation earlier in the year.
At longer odds All Zipped Up has been noticeable flashing home in recent starts and it would be no surprise to see him rattling home late in to the finish at a big price.
In the second of the heats emerging sprinter Serong is the $2.10 Fixed odds favourite with TABtouch in front of Fernando Star at $4.80, Jackson County at $5.50, Wise Thunder at $6, Sunset Toxic at $8.50, Rippin’ Purton at $19, Rambo’s Boy at $21 and Shades Of Blade at $34.
The lightly raced Serong may be giving away some experience to the majority of his rivals but he has fired through the grades and his recent form is hot with wins at 4 of his last 5 visits to the track.
He is generally a safe beginner and his Trainer Paul Stuart knows plenty about having his runners cherry ripe for feature race series.
Fernando Star has won 16 races in town and goes well from inside draws while Jackson County is in a purple patch of form and looms as a solid each way play.
There are a string of quality races on the card and I am keen on a few tonight.
My best three bets are race 3 number 1 Panadero Opal, race 6 number 2 Rostered Off and race 7 number 4 We The People.
