Bromwich took out the STAWA TABTouch Trotters Cup on Monday at Pinjarra after leading all the way in a dominating win over the 2631m trip for the father and son duo, Gary Hall Snr and Gary Hall Jnr.
Making it two from two since making his way to WA, with Hall Snr confident he has a nice trotter in his hands.
“He’s as good as any trotter I’ve ever had.” Hall Snr said.
Going into the race confident he had the best winning prospect, his only apprehension was how the five-year-old would step from the front-line handicap, but after initially galloping at the start, he was back into a trot within two strides, launching to the front to win by 7.6m over That’s Not My Gait in 2:04:8.
With Hall making mention that Bromwich wasn’t quite up to racing the top-class trotters in Victoria, Geoff Webster, who Hall has had a long association with, decided to send the square trotter west to the astute Serpentine stable, with two in a row since arriving in recent months proving it was the right decision for the gelding.
Driver Gary Hall Jnr made mention that although he has led at both attempts since entering his father’s stables, he believes the horse is versatile.
“I think he’s going to do a pretty good job over here,
“But he did have a solid record in Victoria, which usually holds up well here.” Hall Jnr said.
No stranger to success with both pacers and square gaiters, Gary Hall Snr has had an extensive list of nice trotters in his stable, including Tuhimata Glass NZ, Makati Maximus NZ, Tricky Ric NZ who won 9 straight from March to December 2022, the first of those in the Gr2 $30,000 Trotters Sprint, as well as Princess Mila who won 11 races here in the west, including the $50,000 Trotters Cup in 2020 before retiring in August 2021 when she was sent back over east to the breeding barn, producing a filly in November 2022 by stallion Pastor Stephen USA.
Bromwich backs up this Friday at Gloucester Park where he starts from barrier three in race 9, where the Hall camp will be looking to make it three from three in the state. Race 9 jumps at 9.18pm, the Cowden For Exceptional Service MS Trot over the 2130m trip.
